Frequently asked aerial satellite questions
Do I need a mains socket behind screen?
No. We can run a long mains cable (up to 5 metres) through the wall to a local mains socket.
Can a plasma or LCD be mounted above a working fireplace?
Yes. Under normal conditions if the fireplace has a mantle piece to deflect the heat.
Gas effect fires are cool most of heat goes straight up the chimney - not very efficient
but they do look good. Real fires are much hotter. If you check the chimney breast
where the screen will be mounted, it should be no hotter than 80 degrees F normally
it will be ok.
How can wires be hidden in solid brick walls?
There are three methods we use. If the screen is going to be fitted on a none working chimney breast we can drill through chimney breast and through the side wall, this would enable the cables to be feed through the holes. The second method is to cut a chase (grove) out of the brick to enable the wires to be hidden, we then would plaster over the chase. The third method is to run surface trunking. This can be painted if you wish. This method is make for a quicker installation and therefore reduces costs.
How can wires be hidden in plaster board wall?
We cut a hole in the wall behind the screen and then another hole below and pull cables through the holes. If the wall is dry lined, most new buildings use this type of construction today for external walls, the gap behind the wall would not be enough to pull the wires through and a grove would have to cut into the plaster board and plastered over once the cables have been laid into the wall.

Can I paint my satellite dish?
Yes. You can paint the entire dish any colour you wish, including the LNB and cable. Use the thinnest coat possible. Don't paint the LNB cap which faces the dish.
Although white is a nice colour, if your building is white, it reflects the sunlight too efficiently. In countries where sunshine is strong and continuous you should paint the dish a dark colour with matt (not gloss) paint. If the dish concentrates sunlight on the LNB cap, it will melt.
